SOMENTI
The SOMENTI project is aimed at secondary school-age young people from Somali backgrounds. The project aims to create an operating model that promotes young people’s well-being and sense of belonging, and strengthens interaction between Somali parents living in Finland and their children. The activities are targeted specifically at young people living in East Helsinki, with weekly group activities taking place mainly at African Care’s premises in Itis.
The activities are divided into girls’ and boys’ groups, which meet weekly. The groups discuss growth, identity, society and a sense of belonging. The aim is to increase young people’s participation, which is why the groups are based on activities that young people enjoy.
New participants are always welcome.
