Sharing Cafe project

The Sharing Cafe project supports women from immigrant backgrounds who are outside the labour market and have difficulty finding work, by strengthening their inclusion and their ability to work and function. The project is implemented in cooperation with the Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. The target group is in particular women migrants from Africa and the Middle East. The project focuses on supporting women’s empowerment so that they have sufficient resources to participate actively in society and to take care of their own well-being. It also aims to promote understanding between women and their spouses.
The project will develop the services provided by organisations and other bodies for women from a migrant background and strengthen partnership networks and cooperation between organisations. It will also develop a model for strengthening the social participation of women from a migrant background. According to the plan, the model will consist of closed and open group activities, peer counsellor training, networking events, individual counselling and group activities for women’s spouses.
Open groups meet on Tuesdays from 13:00 to 15:00 at African Care’s premises in Itis.
